About A Writer's Wanderings

Hey there! I'm Stephanie: writer, animal lover, outdoor enthusiast, and aspiring yogi. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, IL and lived in and around "the city" for the first 26 years of my life. I spent 4 of those years moving in and out of 3 different apartments in the Chicagoland area itching for something bigger.

I took a vacation out to Maine in the spring of 2015, and by the following spring I was ready to call Maine my home. I packed up all my precious belongings, including my 15-year-old yellow lab, Carmela, into my little Rav4 and headed 1,100 miles due East.

Since moving to Maine I've learned a lot about myself. I've learned to enjoy the little things, and that the fun is in the unplanned, spontaneous adventures that arise when you have miles of blue skies and a full tank of gas. I've learned that grief is a powerful thing in that it can cut you down to nothing, and build you up into a towering pillar of strength you never imagined possible. I've learned that pushing myself to do the things I'm afraid of always, always pays off. I either discover something new that I love, or I learn more about myself in the process. Either way it's worth it.

This blog is about me--my adventures, my ideas, and my opinion on issues that are near and dear to my heart. This blog is basically an extension of the deep, meaningful conversations I already have with the amazing people in my life just on a larger scale.

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, but more importantly I hope you engage and share your thoughts/opinions as well.

Thank you for visiting my little corner of the internet! Happy wandering!
